About Us
We are the nephews and nieces of a special aunt who passed away four years ago on June 18, 2014.
Tita Pangga had Down Syndrome and died at the age of 46.
We will always remember her vividness, her laughter, her innocence and her love of music.
Despite her mental incapacity, Tita Pangga loved to sing; she had a beautiful voice.
She knew the melody and was never out of tune although her lyrics had some twists because she just memorized them by listening over the radio, the television or from people. This was because she never learned how to read, having no formal education.
Her family used to live in a place which was very close to a church and she would hear people sing the church hymns during the mass, thus, she would follow and sing even though she was just lying in her bed.
Funny because the lyrics ( of this ballad ) , ” I just called to say I love you,” would run like this. ” O diyos ko, a lab yu.” She would giggle when we laughed at her antics.
Even in the middle of the night, when she couldn’t sleep, she would just belt out a song or two, to the annoyance of whoever is sleeping already,
Always a kid at heart
As a person with Down Syndrome, Tita Pangga probably just reached the mental age of five to six years old.
She became independent in so many ways, though, like she fed and bathe herself, but because of delayed mental development , she was not able to engage in formal conversations, but she understood what ever you asked her to do and she would always appreciate if you gave her something like food which is her favorite, or a toy.
She would try to grab a toy her young nephews and nieces were playing if she fancied them, to the frustration of these kids. Or she would just throw that toy away and of course it breaks, if she found out it’s not to her liking, adding more frustration to her young kins.
Oh well, Tita Pangga was always considered the youngest in her family even though she had 4 other younger siblings. She would always get treats from her family everytime, if not everyday.
We want to share our love of music, arts, sports and literature
Tita Doc, or Marita , the owner of panggataikaw.com, who put up this website to honor special kids like Tita Pangga and to promote awareness that special kids are there and need our love and support, wanted us, her nephews and nieces , ( she calls us Tita Pangga’s angels ) to share our unique talents to remember Tita Pangga and to always recall with fondness her presence in our lives.
We have varied interests and abilities that we want to show off. We are proud of these and by sharing them with you, we know that we will be happy and we will be encouraged to be better.
And of course, hopefully we want to inspire other young people to get involved with these activities, as well.
We believe that everyone has a talent which just needs to be nurtured. We enjoy each of our activities and we hope that you will learn from us and get inspired.
Beautiful artwork by Jann that she shares with friends and family
Raising money for special kids
Some of us participated in a small fundraising for the special kids in our hometown at Romblon, Philippines on January 23, 2017, to remember Tita Pangga’s 49th birthday ( if she was alive ). Five of us, nephews and nieces did a mini-piano concert at Tita Doc’s home with the extended family as audience who donated some amount for this endeavor.
Nicole, Bowyn, Raven, Christian and Aira wowed family with their piano renditions to celebrate Tita Pangga's love of music.
This inspired Tita Doc ( or Marita ) to let us come up with this website to continue the legacy of sharing to special kids in Romblon, Philippines, where Tita Pangga and most of our families were born and raised.
We are Tita Pangga’s angels and see you all in our posts.
We know Tita Pangga is still singing up there in heaven with the angels and down here we hope to continue to remember her by sharing the talents that we have.
We would love to connect with all of you. Please post your comments, questions, or suggestions below.
Cheers,
Tita Pangga’s angels
